1966 Mustang Coupe

This car is a High School restoration project ~ 10 years ago. It is being sold because somebody ran a stop sign and totaled it and we had to buy another car so the kid could get back to school (college), it took the insurance company 5 months to pay for part of the damage. It didn't matter that we had receipts for $10,000 worth of items or got an appraisal of $9,000 on it, the insurance company said a 66 Mustang was being advertised for $1600 in the local paper so that was all it was worth. We finally accepted $6,000 and we kept the car as a family auto, but it has a "total" branded title. I was going to put a 5-speed in it, and have the transmission and most of the required conversion parts when the kid ran over a dead deer with the new car and we now have that back also. We have way too many cars now!!!!!

So about the car:

There are around 18,000 miles on the 200-6 cyl remanufactured engine
New starting system (starter and solenoid)
New Alternator & regulator
Electronic ignition conversion
3-Speed manual and running gear
Clutch was replaced with the engine
Steering components were replaced with a "make it new" kit from Mustangs Plus
All weather stripping has been replaced
Front suspension has been rebuilt and is V8 the car body was originally a V8. We converted it to a six for fuel economy reasons (200 6 cyl = ~ 25mpg and 289 V8 = ~18mpg) with the plan to convert the transmission to 5 speed for even better economy.
New Modine radiator
New master cylinder and front wheel cylinders
All gauges
New fuel tank and sending unit
All glass is good
All exterior chrome has been replaced
Tires were replaced with the engine and had a 60,000 mile warrantee
In-a-box 5-speed transmission (70,000 mile) and a donor car (74 Comet) included if wanted for rear axel and drive line.
All front and LR quarter panel sheet metal is reproduction

This was a from the ground up restoration - it was taken apart painted and reassembled.

What needs improved?

paint needs some fixes

heater turns on automatically

wipers don't want to turn off automatically but I have a new switch if I ever get to it.

windows were professionally installed but there are still some water leaks, however it has been stored under cover
